I have flicked through the news feed this morning and once again observed the proliferation of images protecting images of youth and perfection. I then read an amazing article written by a 59 year old lady who had been physically rejected by a 55 year old man because of her wrinkles despite her personality intelligence and humour She was slim fit and energetic , just not young. I wonder how the bombardment of youth and air brushing in our visual media contributes to unrealistic ideas of what real people of all ages really look like. I too have noticed that as i have grown older and focused my work efforts on my clients and less on my own image how I appear to have become invisible,now for some reason my extensive education experience and success is apparently invisible because I dont display my 6 pack (I assure you I have one, my abs are strong and under cover). I get better at my job year after year and Im not alone. Those of us who have dedicated years to learning and practicing our craft have so much more to offer our colleagues and clients than someone who has gained a certificate on line or after a weekends course. A beautiful face and body is not a qualification. Equally neither is an older one. Just saying. Happy Monday x
