I have had a chance to give my thoughts on taxes when a local congressional representative asked how I would reform the tax code. My reply/thought was follow the rules of KISS. First discard all of the burdensome rules regulations and forms to fill out quarterly/yearly. Everybody from richest to poorest gets the same form from the IRS. A 3X5 postcard. On the front your name address ect, on the back a place to put in your income for the year multiplied by 10% (could be 5% for all I care) a block to enter that percentage. Send that amount in. No EIC, no deductions, no accounting gimmicks, just plain simple mathematics. 10,000 income X .10 = 1000 in taxes. If you pay more in than needed, refund. If not please remit the difference. This would apply to businesses as well as private citizens. So in short, you make more than 10 cents in a year your paying taxes.
