I have had a lot of inquiries lately about joining the JKDAA and what it takes to become a JKDAA Apprentice. In short, Hard Work Long Time. I look for character, integrity, skill, teaching and fighting ability. And above all love for the Science, Art and Philosophy that drives JKD. On average it takes a minimum of at least 4 years of training and some sort of Martial Arts background experience. A JKDAA Apprentice is someone that I have selected to enter my Instructor Development Program. By definition Apprentice means One who is learning a trade or Occupation. I am very proud of the 11 individuals that I have tested and selected across the world to come on this journey with me. You have worked very hard over the years and I look forward to watching your development into JKDAA Coaches(Instructors). For those of you that I did not select, do not get down on yourself, keep training hard and work on the improvement plan that I have provided you with. I am even more proud of my JKDAA Coaches that have spent countless hours behind the scenes training and grooming your students and building our family. Jay Cooper, Clay Pratka, Nick Ellis, Kyle Mcgahee I am very pleased with your ability to pass on the knowledge. The JKDAA is an Instructors Institute Dedicated to Preserving and Perpetuating Jun Fan Gung Fu, JKD, & Kali as passed down to me by my teachers. #jkdaa #jeet4life
