I have had carpal tunnel and arthritis in my hips for many years - TopicsExpress

I have had carpal tunnel and arthritis in my hips for many years and had adjusted accordingly. But recently everything has worsened and had been accompanied by severe inflammation in the tendons of my fingers and decreased blood flow to my fingers with sudden numbness. While the doctors and I jump through the diagnostic hoops, I have to change the way I do things again. Cooking has been love of mine for years and suddenly not having the strength in my hands but having extreme pain makes cooking difficult. I am going to buy a Mandolin food cutter, and a mezzaluna to help me cut fresh veges and break down budget packs of meats. I am also getting extra wooden spoons because my hands will suddenly twitch and the spoon goes flying and with extras I can keep cooking and pick up the dropped ones later as bending is no longer an option. Oak is good but bamboo are harder to burn and dont stain. If anyone has other tips for someone with grip problems, please let me know. I found this site that had lots of great info. thekitchn/cooking-with-a-physical-disability-171416
