I have had many a conversation, some brief and some in-depth, about RESCUED Greyhounds.. !! no kidding right..?!? ;) NOT re-homed... NOT retired.... p*ss off.. !! Our greyhounds.. they are RESCUED.. !! I am under no illusion that our dogs are anything but rescued from an Industry that would otherwise see them, at best, given away to perfect strangers, at worst, a steaming pile of half burnt bones in the back paddock of someones farm in NZ , a wandering half-starved almost corpse with his ears hacked off in an English or Irish field, or sucked dry of every last drop of blood by nearest Vet for the price of the death needle in Australia.. then of course theres the USA.. the land of apple pie and wild honey.. sigh.. rescued is a filthy word.. Yeah, ok. CAN WE SAY DELUSIONAL.. !?! Ive actually seen written in a forum, some folk in the adoption/pro-racing circles, bullshite such as 100% adoption rate for retired racing greyhounds in the US and its not like other places here in the US, our dogs are retired, not rescued and there is no abuse or overbreeding here, we love our dogs.. sigh..... As in the words of Bart Simpson... Aye Carumba...!! Seriously?!! Sorry to disappoint, but your RESCUED greyhounds may have retired from racing, but they have most certainly be RESCUED from that life of RUSSIAN ROULETTE.. the ones that get out alive, they are the lucky ones.. For as we know.. if they were unlucky enough to race in Florida.. one dog dies every 3 days down in the Sunshine State.. Senior Citizens might retire to Florida, but greyhounds?? They are rescued from it.. Lucky to get out alive.. To call it anything else is ridiculous. One of our friends who lives in the US, sent us a blog post she wrote a while back.. Thanks Nancy :) nan-weller.blogspot.co.nz/2014/03/i-love-rescues.html
