I have had the most eventful day, get to work macerater busted. Have a number of issues to be addressed with some very sick patients, rushed off my feet, running here and there trying to take care of a multitude of tasks which do not involve direct care. Getting increasingly frustrated with the fact that our macerater has been busted all day and we have no where to download our feculant matter or our urinals which are deteoriating as they are only made with cardboard. So I had a major infection control issue on my hands and I was at the end of the day emptying urinals into the toilet. Finally at the end of the day some inept maintenance person had to ask a nurse where the number was to call the company to get someone into look at the ridiculous machine. And with the telephone ringing and the call bells going off and the care being delivered and then all the charting of patients.I was never so glad to leave the building. Got into my wheels only to hear on the radio that there is a gas leak at the corner of my street and that it would take 8-10 hours to cap it. Worried that I might not be able to get into my home as there were a number of city blocks blocked off. Police and fire trucks dispersed all along the street. My lad met me a few blocks from home and kindly asked the police if we could get into our home. The officer said yes but to go very slowly as there were firefighters all along the street. Get into our home finally only to realize that the city has shut down all power for the fear of an explosion. So from 1 to 8 my beloved one who is not a well man had gone without food and I was fearing for him having a hypoglycaemic event. Made him a wee meal in the dark with just a flashlight as my light source. All is well folks, the power and heat is back on. And there will be know repeat of going through a few nights of no power or heat like last winter. Dont get me started though on the rest of my week. (I am so thankful we do not live in Buffalo.)
