I have heard many people say that Child support is a trap. But I am not sure how. The basic premise is that if two people have a child then choose not to support it as one family unit then one parent is usually designated as the primary guardian. If this primary guardian can not make ends meet and they apply for assistance the government seeks to ensure that the other parent is doing their part before granting assistance. To me this makes sense. Before tax payers provide assistance it should be assured that the other parent is also providing assistance or the other parent has been deemed incapable of doing so. But as always I am open to the opinion of others.
