I have heard the terms bad cops and good cops in discussions regarding Ferguson and NY. I submit this social psychology experiment from 1971 for insight. Proff Phillip Zimbardo did a study with 24 Stanford University Freshman guys all prescreened with psych testing for normalcy and randomly assigned the role of prison guard or prisoner.
