I have heard this story too many times to count. From too many suffering Mormons in my case. The non-equality stance we are currently taking as a church is harmful - and unnecessarily tragic. When will we learn that enough pain already exists without the need to heap upon more? Gods work is not about standing for family values while we shamelessly act and believe in ways that devalue the precious family members we have right in front of us. The Churchs teaching was the reason that I lived in so much shame and isolation and pain for all those years. But rather than abandon it and say its broken, I want to be part of the change. Amen.
