I have heard tonight of the passing of Jim Gardner, with whom I was on a longtime music discussion group dating back to the early 90s. Jim had been diagnosed with ALS about a couple years ago. Although I never met Jim in person, the degree to which we discussed all things musical and his central role in the group make this a more personal-feeling loss.
