I have investigated the current club policy on Junior gearing. - TopicsExpress

I have investigated the current club policy on Junior gearing. This was developed in conjunction with Graeme Seers, the then Junior Development officer with CNSW. This is still in force but may be looked at by the Committee. All junior U17,U15, U13, U11 & younger shall ride their respective Junior gearing. U17 & U15 riders in open Grades, ie A,B,C or D Grade will be allowed the small chain ring (39 teeth being the standard) & an open cluster on the back, 11 being the smallest cog. The large chain ring shall be locked out.U15 & U17 may be allowed bigger gears with a request from their accredited coach & a letter of permission from their parent. Copies shall be sent to CNSW for insurance purposes. Junior gearing will be adhered to for all age category racing so as to be a level playing field. Any Junior seen to be using open gears will have their gears adjusted to comply. I hope this is useful information for parents & the newer commisaires that may not be aware of the Club regulations on this. Cheers.
