I have jury duty tomorrow. Serving on a jury is THE most important duty to our society we have (other than serving at war). I know folks make fun of jury duty, but it is the one place we ordinary citizens can dispense justice. It keeps those in power in check. It is the cornerstone of our liberty. I doubt Id get selected, but it is my duty to be there and it is an honor. In the words of Sir Patrick Devlin, The object of any tyrant would be to overthrow or diminish trial by jury, for it is the lamp that shows freedom lives. Keep the lamp lit.
