I have just been to see Star Trek Into Darkness, for the second time!!! I am still recovering from its impact! What a punch it packs!!! You definitely need to put your seatbelt on! As a dedicated William Shatner/Captain Kirk admirer from way back, I had been holding off seeing this movie because of its young, unfamiliar cast . But one, immensely talented artist swayed my decision to go and see this movie. Amidst an incredibly talented young cast, Benedict Cumberbatch towered above them all and owned this movie in every way!! He is simply sublime as the arch villain Khan! His Khan exudes chilling savagery, raw, menacing, terrifying power, yet he is also charismatic, fascinating, spellbinding. The sheer power of Benedict’s performance allows us, for a brief moment, to go past the fear, to catch a glimpse of Khan’s “humanity”, in his heart wrenching outburst of passion when talking about saving his crew - his family. For such a young man, Benedict possesses a formidable talent beyond his years. He is a phenomenal powerhouse. I was spellbound and mesmerised by his incredible, menacing, chilling presence, his commanding voice. Without Benedict, I would never have gone to see Star Trek Into Darkness. I am so glad I did. I am in awe of his formidable talent and grateful for the pure joy he brings his audience. Thank you for a magnificent film. If it was still on at the cinema, I would go a third time! xxx
