I have just left one of the greatest speakers of this century, the Dalai Lama. His message of courage, peace, and understanding of ourselves and others was poignant especially due to yesterdays tragedy. Awareness of ourselves and others, getting rid of fear and finding a common unity between people are powerful messages. Full of hope for a world that always need it. We had Police, security and undercover agents, a list advising not to bring umbrellas, cameras , pens , bags or they would be confiscated. Yet under the worst rainfall this year, thousands came umbrellas were everywhere, cameras were plentiful and no harm came to anyone. Yet I felt torn, happy that common sense ruled and yet unsettled on just how easy it would be to inflict harm. Im left wondering about the balance, what little inconveniences are we willing to accept in our North American society and how much we value our liberties. So with an open heart I will thank those who protect us, those who fight to keep our liberties and those special individuals who make us strive for a better for ourselves and others!
