I have just received the official invitation to attend the final remembrance activities surrounding the recently located burial ground of the Africans enslaved in St. Martin Parish in southwest Louisiana. A group of scholars and community members are dedicated to venerating this site as an African heritage site in America. Activities including the historic declaration and dedication of the burial ground and symposium will be held on October 11th and 12th, 2013 respectively.I wish i could attend this event which i termed as historic.I also, wish to use my African American friends and Africans in the US to kindly attend this event.For more details.., please visit kreolmagazine/society-culture/creol-and-more/people/232-discovering-the-impact-of-african-creole-culture-on-america . All activities will begin at 9:00am at the African American Museum of St. Martinville, Louisiana located at 125 New Market Street, St. Martinville, La. 70582. Activities will include, but are not exclusive to: tours, plantation visit, veneration of burial ground, discussions, paper presentations, and film viewing. Included in this mail are the following: 1) photos of the recently located African Burial Ground; 2) an invitation to you from the key organizers—the African Scientific Research Institute, and Promiseland Redevelopment Council; and 3) a Save the Date notice.
