I have just received the official invitation to attend the final remembrance activities surrounding the recently located burial ground of the Africans enslaved in St. Martin Parish in southwest Louisiana. A group of scholars and community members are dedicated to venerating this site as an African heritage site in America. All activities will begin at 9:00am at the African American Museum of St. Martinville, Louisiana located at 125 New Market Street, St. Martinville, La. 70582. Activities will include, but are not exclusive to: tours, plantation visit, veneration of burial ground, discussions, paper presentations, and film viewing. Included in this mail are the following: 1) photos of the recently located African Burial Ground; 2) an invitation to you from the key organizers—the African Scientific Research Institute, and Promiseland Redevelopment Council; and 3) a Save the Date notice.
