I have just returned home after doing a perimeter drive of the fire affected area. All looks good and nothing of concern anywhere near the containment lines. There are still some pretty intense fires burning but they are a long way inside Girraween national park and not posing any threat. I spoke to a few of the land owners whose properties border or go through where the fire has been and they are all pretty happy with the outcome. I dare say we will be on watch for several more days but any immediate threats seem to have passed. A big thank you to everyone that turned out to assist in fighting the fires, volunteered their time to help in the preparation of food, those that donated food & drinks and the many offers of support from the local community and from all the outside strike teams and QFRS support staff. I will attempt to put up some more information after we debrief for this incident. There are so many more people to thank and over the next few days I am sure there will be some more posts as events I have not been involved in get relayed back. It has been a big week and I know that so many people are looking forward to getting back to their regular lives.
