I have kids. Kids who are natural scientists and love borrowing everything: tablet, computer, laptop, DS, phone...you name it, they want to explore it. Aerilyn, photographed in the purple bow and sweater here, is our oldest at 2 years 10.5 months, raised Vegan since birth! She recently purchased a whole season of Carebears on Amazon, and before that, a Blues Clues episode (oops! We had to remove our payment info from the website so that purchasing online is not an option for her. Ha!). Thankfully, we were granted a refund. Shes been making webcam videos of herself since last year, until she put our laptop into hiatus by pouring juice on it. (Weve got to see if we can get it fixed. Has our Geek Squad warranty expired yet? Does Geek Squad cover that kind of thing?). She did use it with no problems for a year, and loved playing Animal Crossing on Nintendo DS until she put sticky oatmeal on it, and now it is purposefully in time out, courtesy of yours truly--previously when I logged into my character months ago, the character would have a different hair style, with shoes/socks removed and the items in my inventory would be sold. :P lol. She also had new furniture from doing errands for the animals around town. She is 71% completed with the level 1 pre-school lessons on ABCmouse and finished the toddler lessons last year. But what does she love doing thats not tech-related? Aerilyn loves singing (says most everything in song), running, getting horsey rides from mom and dad, dancing, reading library books every night (she wants to read all 7), helping me put away clean dishes (in her begging words, I NEED to help dishes!) and put dirty ones into the dishwasher, pushing the vaccuum, getting to visit Grandma every 2 weeks, having her hair in piggy tails and is quite the artist (aka drawing on anything she can find, if we let her!). She does not take naps anymore--though goodness knows I wouldnt mind if she did. She is a whirlwind (a polite whirlwind, mind you, who does use please, thank you, youre welcome) of sunshine and energy in our home. If Im doing something, she wants to do it too--though when it comes to animal rights speeches, her attention span tends to wane and she pouts that she would rather watch Curious George, Wonder Pets, or Elmos World (Sesame Street). She has the theme song of Wonder Pets memorized and loves singing it. She has been potty trained for 3 months now and has been exclusively wearing underwear. We used princess reward charts, Hello Kitty and Princess stickers, and Scooby Doo snacks, fruits, and Junior mints (she uses both the small potty chair and regular toilets, will put the excrement in the toilet, close the lid, flush, make the potty chair into a stool, wash her hands with soap and water, then dry her hands). We still clap for her after she uses the potty chair but dont need to use rewards anymore. Very proud of her for choosing healthy fruits like a grapefruit, orange, strawberries etc. for her reward snacks, though, which she asked for more often than anything. The rainbow colored blanket photo (this beautiful blanket was from Stephanie Stewart, by the way--thank you!) is from last week. Tracey had woken up that morning to find our daughter curled on the bed, the back of her underwear had concerningly-large red splotches on it. Besides that, she was naked, and it looked like she was covered in blood. For a split second, he was beside himself! Then, he looked closer. What had actually happened was she had gotten a hold of my red marker during the night, with all markers kept up high, and drew all over herself (she had placed a chair to get to the top of my tall dresser and into the dresser drawer). Apparently, she was just practicing for her upcoming PETA slaughterhouse protest video. She even had splotches that looked like gunshot wounds on her chest. /golfclap Aerilyn. Off to the showers with ya!
