I have known Mr.M.J.Akbar for over three decades, firstly as my cousins friend while I was still studying in Kolkatta and subsequently as my own neighbor in Gurgaon. I have always admired him both as an individual as well as a writer... his well reasoned articles have always been eagerly awaited every week -end. I had missed out the live telecast of his interview with Rajdeep Sardesai last night and have only now watched it replayed on the net. All I can say is that my admiration for my neighbor has grown exponentially. There are very few individuals in his profession who are capable of publicly admitting that they have erred in their judgement and fewer still who have the courage to fly in the face of popular perception and take affirmative steps to correct their mistake!
