I have learned this about certain people...some of whom I really wish they didnt have to be this way...because I dont feel the same way about anyone, nor could I ever. What I have learned is this: There are people in your life, even very close people whom you love with all your heart...who are only interested in your life as it affects theirs. They can only stand to be a part of your life provided they have a firm belief that their life is better than yours. The moment you start to make headways in this wonderful problem we call life....or start to really shine, they are too busy to be around. THeir inherent need to feel superior outweighs what should be their having your very best interest at heart. They are the people who give you insincere support when you are experiencing trials, and will not hesitate to try to knock you down a few pegs when youre feeling good about yourself....or what they perceive as feeling TOO good about yourself. These are people who are not your true friends. And sometimes they are so much a part of your life...that it actually hurts your heart. A true friend is there for you, no matter what. Theyre on their way in a jam before you hang up the phone. They will listen to you, but also know when you dont want to talk about it. A true friend....is someone you can have a good time with...even when you have to do something shitty...just because they are there. I choose not to lament over those who I wish treated me and others betteI. All I can do is learn from their mistakes...and try to be the best man I can be, to as many people as possible. And hopefully, enough of them will think of me as just that...a good man. God Bless
