I have lived in Cyprus for 10 years and was brought up within a Cypriot system in the UK also. From my personal observation this nation is very racist. Of course, there are beautiful, humble well meaning people in Cyprus just like any nation in the world but the stigma is there and that it is Cyprus is a racist country. The irony is, it is a deeply religious country, although in reality it is a country that lacks education in a variety of fields. The people are not inspired to understand other cultures and other ideas. Very sad! In my life time, I have been encouraged to let go of my ties with English friends I made at school in the UK. I would be stigmatized if I had an English girlfriend especially. As for black people, they were not even thought about as human. Cyprus culture has improved over time, the youth more in touch with worldly realities but its a country that still lacks integrity and humility but all too often very opinionated with an external veneer of know it all power. It is all in all very embarrassing that this country still does not understand or accept the evolution theory among other realities, where the rest of the world has progressed. Cyprus mainstream still treats black people more or less like animals. Cyprus, you are more than welcome to join reality at some stage, I really hope you do! Comments below please. Some of you do have an answer for everything! IM ANGRY! Please, I challenge you to a debate if you disagree. Of course, I will repeat, there are some wonderful, intelligent humble people in Cyprus, I speak of the stigma Cyprus has though.
