I have lived my whole life with people telling me and others who I am without even trying to know or understand me humans are so simple minded they always forget there own mistakes and remember everyone elses ,they tend to think everyone else thinks and feels the way they do that is how we all see ourselves as normal ie. liars think everyone else is always lying to them ,thieves hide anything they have of value because everyone else is out to steal it ,cheaters always think their partner is cheating ,etc. then on top of that we tend to surround ourselves with people who are like us because anyone else is considered weird and therefore not normal like us by doing this we maintain the façade of normality to ourselves. so you cant know someone without accepting and appreciating there differences you cant know yourself until you realize that you are different from everyone else in many ways and similar in others. its a self defeating flaw in our personality that tends to lump us into similar groups and prevents us from growing intellectually by learning from people with different ideas and personnel views travel is the only cure forcing yourself to adapt and fit into different social structures therefore expanding your mind and personality while learning to understand other people for who they truly are.
