I have long been fascinated by other cultures and I have to admit that I lean towards the East. I have visited China before and now I have a Thai girlfriend. Oh Warin is the personification of the smiling, trusting and respectful culture that I found in Thailand. When I visited I was overwhelmed by the warmth not only of the weather - phew - but of the people we met. It resonated with how I remember Guernsey of old when I used to visit my relatives from the high parishes. They knew everyones business and would always be cooking something.. just in case someone popped in. Have you eaten is the common greeting of both groups. So now I see the Coup in Thailand and I just have to ask myself how I get into these situations. I have a long distance relationship with a wonderful woman in a friendly place - which is under military rule for now. Im sure it will be the politest possible one though. When I saw the traffic jams I never saw anyone angry there. They just cope with chaos in such a calm way. Its just awesome. I dont know if I could have found my answers in an easier way and I dont care. Life is about doing whats right even if it is a struggle.
