I have long thought the 2016 presidential campaign is ripe for the person who taps into the populist mood of the country. Although Clintons candidacy would give the nation a chance for another historic choice, Im not so sure the populist mantle rest so easily on her well-known exceedingly well-connected shoulders. It would be more than a pity - it would be tragic - if the GOP cynically tapped into that feeling by amping up the resentment and anger that is the political id of populist fervor instead of addressing it with policies since its policy solutions are the farthest thing imaginable from populist. The media is beginning to pump up the Warren boomlet by sensing this narrative out there in the country. She would give the voters a chance to make both a historic choice and cast a populist vote. Is she capable of convincing us that she is ready for the White House? There is a comfort level with Clinton. We can all see her occupying the oval office. Can Warren close that stature gap with her? It will be interesting to watch. The media wants this match up. Do the Democratic primary voters? This is one Democratic voter who considers my vote for Warren for senator from Massachusetts when I lived there one of the best votes Ive ever cast.
