I have lots of smart friends: Jewish, Muslim, Christian and all the rest. Tell me what you think. I personally am uncertain about the claim there has never not been a Jewish state because I seem to remember history as the state of Israel being invaded and conquered quite a few times and before Joshua claimed the promised land, It was populated by plenty if other people including the philistines (I am told Palestinians are descended from the philistines). Like everything, I am sure the truth lies in the middle. The Yassar Arafat thing where they were offered 95+% of all the land they asked for but rejected it is stark in my mind. Yes, there would have been 4 different territories (I think) but it would have been a start and a chance for Palestine to show Israel it is happy to coexist peacefully which would have led to increases in trust. In the end, I just want the killing and suffering to end. The people caught in the middle are the ordinary men, women and children of Palestine and the much smaller number of Jews who are affected by this fighting. You know, if my family got killed, I think it would be natural for me to hate the killers and vow revenge...but then what would I become? Bitter and twisted from hatred. I might even succeed and kill some of my enemies...whose families would become bitter twisted and hate me and my friends, family and nation. Stop the cycle of violence. Please!
