I have made a decision to stop drinking for a period of 6 months - TopicsExpress

I have made a decision to stop drinking for a period of 6 months to see if it will help with weight loss. Currently I consume 6 units 5 nights a week. I know a unit has a calorific value of 500 calories, so I estimate this will reduce my calorific intake on a daily basis by 3000 calories, which would be an equivalent of 15000 per week or 2,142.85 per day. A man my age should not consume more than 2000 or 1500 calories per day, so I calculate that this reduction in complex carbohydrate will allow me to lose weight with an increasing effect. As I have now hit 17s if I can lose 4s I will reduce my risk of coronary heart decease, apart from beer my diet is not too bad, my blood pressure is good, my cholesterol is low, I stopped smoking 11.5 months ago. So here goes. I have agreed with my local pub that they will not be worried if I drink water for the next 6 months even though their takings will be down by £50 per week (£1250 over 6 months). Wish me luck as this is the first time in 12 years I have stopped completely.
