I have mixed feelings about this. Not that I dont think it is great that a stranger gave a needful young man some useful cash... I think that was a fine act of human kindness, of course. More people should be so generous. And it is good that the young man was appreciative of the gesture… all the rest of this is BS… First of all, it looks like Granddaddy got involved. It appears that he was the tattle-tell-all who called the police and/or the news station and exposed the good deed to the world at large. Sometimes, well-meaning (busybodies) get ahead of themselves, and set things in motion unintentionally… cause and effect must play out. So what could go wrong with this perfect picture of heroism and salvation? There may be a another reason, in addition to his sense of humility, for why the officer/benefactor did not want his name made public. It might go against police-public interactions protocols for a policeman to show any form of favoritism (reverse bribe?) in (equally) serving the public. There may be liability issues to consider. Was this a disguised pay-off in a vote-buying scheme? (for instance) Why would an officer of the law even be carrying a hundred dollars worth of coffee and donut money? Was there more to the deal that Jr. didn’t tell Grandpa? Were there services rendered or expected for the cash? The questions could go on and on… I’ll stop there… I also don’t like way the reporter referred to the young working man as being “down and out”. He is not down and out, he is just working for peanuts while paying for (some nice policeman’s) donuts (?). Peace/out
