I have mixed feelings today about the Liquid Ambre tree in our front yard being chopped down. On one hand its a relief because for more then 20 yrs its been causing problems with our and out neighbours sewage, on the other hand its sad to see a tree go that I knew my entire life. However I think you should need a permit for planting trees that grow beyond three metres. We had two beautiful jacaranda trees that had to be removed because the roots broke our porch and next doors drive way. After WW2 our council have away jacarandas with the birth of a child, but we the descendants learned the hard way that these type of trees need parks not suburban blocks. Five gum trees that had a disease also had to go. We had the council out to get permission to remove one gum we were worried would fall on our house and he said you need to get rid of all these diseased trees.
