🌜 I have my porridge in the slow cooker ready for our breakfasts in the morning!! 🌛 But this is porridge with a twist 😉 You will need: An oven proof dish (Im using a glass dish) 1 mug of porridge oats (Im just using tesco own cheapy porridge oats) 4 mugs of milk 2cm of water in the bottom of your slow cooker to stand the dish in Normally I add 2 tablespoons of vanilla extract, but as its almost the weekend and the weather is pretty depressing outside, Ive decided to give us a treat and added 4 chunks of Toblerone 😃 (naughty but nice!) You can add dried or fresh fruit, vanilla extract, sugar or cocoa ... or chocolate if youre feeling naughty! Or top with fresh fruit in the morning. This recipe should serve at least 5 depending on the size of the mug you use to measure the ingredients. * Mix your ingredients together in your oven proof dish (I use a dish rather than putting it all straight in the slow cooker as its much easier to wash up!) * Put the water into your slow cooker and stand your dish in it (making sure it doesnt spill into your porridge) * Put the lid on your slow cooker and cook on LOW overnight. Mine usually cooks for 7-8 hours. * In the morning give it a stir, serve and enjoy! Now, I have lots of people ask me - why bother cooking porridge overnight when you can do it in the microwave? My answer - when you have a big or busy family with everyone getting up at different times, this is perfect. My daughter gets up at 6am so I tell her to give it a stir, take some, and switch it to warm for the rest of us. Theres no faffing about, just serve and eat! On the days I dont make this porridge, I dont normally get my breakfast til 10am, so this is a treat 😊 plus it tastes much creamier. I also get asked - doesnt it cost loads to have your slow cooker on overnight? No, it costs pennies. Hope you enjoy! Please like, share, comment 💖
