I have never been a big Baby person. I have never wanted children - TopicsExpress

I have never been a big Baby person. I have never wanted children except for the four legged variety, but.....I have always loved old people! I love their wisdom and tenacity and all their varied experiences that they bring to the table of Life! I watched my grandmother and her many friends grow from middle age to old age, and then pass away with dignity and peace. I loved these women and men. I had know most of them my entire life. I went with my grandmother to visit them, to care and comfort them in sickness, to cook and clean for them when they could not do for themselves, to stay days and sometimes nights at the hospital while their family members took a break, and then to sit with them in the final hours of life as the passed away. All these things I learned early, and I am thankful that I made peace with death and dying before it became My turn! One thing I have noticed in older people, if you have not allowed the Lord to do the work on your character that is needed when you are young, when you become older and less given to self control and reason, those flaws will stick out like a sore thumb or more like a prickly thorn! I heard Kenneth Copeland preach on this one time, and I have never forgotten his sermon. He explained why so many old people in nursing homes are as mean as snakes. He said when you are young and have all your senses intact it is easy to hear the Lord and allow him to correct your behavior. After you are older your heart has hardened and your senses have become dull to the Spirit. And you just become plain old mean, self centered, and cantankerous. The most common cause of this is Unforgiveness and Bitterness! I have met some of these older people that are like this. They are a burden to others and an enemy to themselves! They want the world to revolve around them and only them, and as soon as they have an ear to listen to them they begin to complain! I do NOT want to be this way. I pray that like my beloved grandmother, I will be a blessing to others right up until, like Elvis, I leave the building! 😉
