I have never been disappointed by either fit or comfort in a HiTec - TopicsExpress

I have never been disappointed by either fit or comfort in a HiTec boot. I have a broad forefoot and need plenty of room for my toes. Some boots, from certain manufacturers, are too tight even when I go up a size. My only quarrel with HiTec is the soles only last a season, around 200-miles in my experience before the outer edge of the heel is too worn for safety. A pair of HiTech shoes marketed as Vibram had only a veneer of Vibram on parts of the sole. The heels wore through to the spongy midsole after a few months of walking to work and back, about four miles a day. I am now looking at brands like Merrell and Keen as well as a newcomer to the hiking shoe market, New Balance, world renowned for being one of the few sport shoe manufacturers to offer widths from 2E to 6E as well as a choice between cushioning, stability, motion control, toebox height, etc.
