I have never been one for airing any family matters on Facebook, I - TopicsExpress

I have never been one for airing any family matters on Facebook, I could of privately messaged my uncle, but opinions have been aired and shared on here publicly that affects myself and my family. I must confess I have not read either of my uncles books - by choice! However other family members have so I know the general gist and like them I am upset by some of the comments. Im not disputing my uncles childhood, I wasnt there so I can not comment, although some of his siblings strongly disagree with his recollections. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and this is only mine, yes my uncles mother could be a cruel woman. She was a pitmans wife with many children, tough as old boots but my uncle failed to mention that despite having a disabled husband and severe arthritis, she raised her granddaughter - ME - from a very young age and continued to do so after her husbands death until her own death in 1988, which leads me onto the comment my uncle made weve had her cremated incase she came back. That day in 1988 was the day my heart broke and she didnt want to be cremated, she wanted to be buried alongside her children that died as infants. Myself and my children are deeply hurt and upset about the comments from strangers, from people who have only read stories in a book, one mans opinion on a person they do not know and who are no longer with us to give their side. I would have loved my children to have met my gran. My memories of my grandmother differ to those of my uncles. Yes she could be strict (for my own good) but there was never any doubt that she loved me and cared for me, she raised me from 2 years old until I was 15. I know I wouldnt be the person I am today if it wasnt for her love.
