I have never celebrated Veterans day...it has always been a sad time for me. Closest thing i ver did, was ride around with my dad...we would stop have a few beers, and just talk...that is, when I was in town...I should have been in town more. After i got out of the service, i waited 3 years, before i came home. Stayed 1 year, then gone again. I miss him, Bub, and Sis. I never celebrated, because of the ones that didnt make it back.They were not just buddies They were my family then. Thats why, everytime i got orders to come home. I would extend for 6 mos. Come home 30 days and then go back. When i did that, and got back to myfamily...some had gone home...some, were just gone. i would get mad, i should have been there...i could have done something. 35 years later, i found out i had PTSD. Hell, I thought I was just crazy. and had a death wish...LOL...I think all my friends and family thought that too. Today, is going to be different. WWII VETERAN, Vernon Herod, is counting on me to celebrate with him. We are going to the service at Veterans Park, in Collegedale. I think that is at 11:00. Then, we are going to review some property drawings he did yesterday. Also going to visit his neighbor. Then, we are going to take our wives out to eat. I hope my mom comes along too, it would be good for her, to get out. May get her to got to the cemetatry with. Anyway, i am posting this because I started out on a mission to help Vernon....sometimes, I dodnt know who is helping who...LOL I just know, I love this man, dont know how the city allowed it to happen, but I am damn sure going to fix it. One way or another. That, my friends, is FACT!!!
