I have never really given myself a chance to really dive myself into the chinese culture of film cinema, but I am sure glad that I did, they have an interesting way of telling their stories whether it be through cinematography or through the writing it was both aesthetically appealing and engaging. The Grandmaster known all throughout all of Asia as the master Martial Artist, seeks to show everyone through China, the art of Wing Chun a form of martial arts passed down through the Buddhist religion. Has only 3 parts to it while the other form has the 64 arms. A man by the name of Ip Man played by Tony Leung Chiu Wai is building his reputation throughout the Northern military chinese region showing everyone how powerful a weapon it can be for the benefit of teaching Kung Fu. The film goes though a series of redemptive strengths and has a story of revenge, that goes perfectly well for a member of the 64 hands who brings her fathers legacy back to the art of Kung Fu. Gong Er played by Ziyi Zhang has left her fathers compost to become a doctor but soon learns, that one man uses his Kung Fu for power and prominence. Gong fights to take back the house of the Grandmaster and soon Ip learns to appreciate the value of the art of Wing Chun. It very much is an interesting story and of course the editing can turned out to be either good or bad in some points. The lighting was good, and the story was definitely not easy to follow I might add because of the dubb. But the movie is interesting in the fact that it tells a true story of a man and his pursuit with the house of The Gold Pavillion, who eventually makes Wing Chun popular. Ultimately drawing the hollywood all star Bruce Lee to the art, as well as having him become the ultimate successor. I would chop! and Karate Kick!! this film to a 7.9/10
