I have never thought of myself as a tree-hugger, but I am becoming - TopicsExpress

I have never thought of myself as a tree-hugger, but I am becoming increasingly aware of what people do to animals in the name of entertainment, and even of supplying food. Add to that the inhumanity involved in ending a pregnancy...well, that is another topic...sort of. ...and we are civilized? It makes me sad. I recall reading the words of Hugh Nibley or Truman Madsen. I do not recall where I read the treatise, but it spoke of the millenium (which I cannot spell correctly apparently) and the idea of the lamb and the lion lying down together. It suggested that that will never happen until/unless we can respect the animals and other defenseless beings in their natural state with love; that their lives need to be considered as equally valuable and for a purpose--not necessarily for monetary gain. I think we have crossed way beyond the need factor. So next time you consider going to the zoo, Sea World (or the like), or a circus, consider where they got the animals. Perhaps slavery lasted so long for similar reasons. I dont think I am going out on a limb here. I guess my soap box is growing.
