I have new respect for my friends who write fiction, criticism, or other such reams of prose . .. Pulling together a 250 page prose manuscript has been one of my most dogged and exasperating artistic adventures ever . . . so much room for error--so many ways to screw up--so much proofing, which of course is never enough; some damned typo--and probably more than one--will slip though into print and torment me till the day I die. Poetry is easier--not to write, but to handle--you sculpt it on the page--you can see if its sitting there properly--but prose . . . Ooooooof! I could not have possibly persisted in this matter without the steady help of my great friend James David Loser in Atlanta . . . Happily, there is light at the end of the tunnel--it is rumored, however, that there is a tunnel at the end of the light as well . . . Well see!
