I have no connection to Reynoldsburg other than being a fellow educator. Ive not been in a strike district, nor do I expect to be. My school currently is led by an awesome BOE and Superintendent. That being said, I care about students, hence I am a teacher, so Ive found myself really caring about the plight of the Reynoldsburg students and their teachers. From what Ive read, I completely understand why the teachers chose to strike. Ive felt pride for students that Ive never met and will likely never meet, as they became leaders in their school district during those tough times. Ive felt pride for the teachers whove made this tough decision and seen it through. Im proud of a community that Ive never lived in, for coming to the side of whats right for students and their trained professionals. I feel hopeful that other school districts, across our great nation, will be able to follow Reynoldsburgs example to stand up for themselves and what they know to be right for their community. I live and teach in Ada, OH, so I am a Proud Bulldog, but I am now also Raider Strong! (written with guidance from my 12 year old, who is also now Raider Strong - a future BAT, Im sure.)
