I have no idea if or when therell be a terrorist attack on us. I suppose in the way of things, something of that kind will happen, one day. I hope that day never comes; if it comes I hope it will be stopped before serious harm is done, and for that I certainly hope the public servants charged with protecting us are successful. I do think this, though: the declaration of endless war on terrorism, permanent mobilisation against unseen enemies and all that goes with it is in danger of incrementally destroying the things we find valuable. The very things they supposedly threaten. If you need me to spell out what those things are, Im afraid its already too late. Either that, or you are a member of this government.
