I have not been out with my voter registration crew much in the past two weeks, I for the most part stayed home with my 6 year old grandson while his Mom was out of town training for her new job. If you follow my posts here you know we had a great time together. It was the gap between the end of his summer camp and the start of the school year. So today I go out to see how the three dozen plus college age young voters I trained and put on the streets were doing. I still have some health issues ..some of them could tell I had some breathing problems so they forced me to get in the car and go home... being the grumpy old man I am I was angry, but at the same time proud that I had picked and trained the right kids. When I got home I sat down and opened the file on the computer they sent me and saw they had registered and gotten pledges to vote in November for 1782 people ..up from the 320 we had on August 11.when I had my little table set up... not bad !! I have been doing this for years all by myself and only last year took the suggestion of my sister Rugenia Hayes Johnson and my good friend Randall Grass and trained other people to help me.. and today I am so proud of my little group ...the big organized groups like MoveOn .org and Neighborhood Networks have not even started yet...... Hey maybe we should name ourselves something lol.
