I have not removed the recent very negative comments on Fred Astaire, not because I agree with them. On the contrary, I find these put-downs quite bizarre. Under the rules Im establishing as administrator, however, other members are cordially invited to voice their dissent as long as the argument does not get out of hand. It seems like every star from the 30s has their critics here with the sole exception of Jean Arthur for some reason. And when some weeks ago, I pointed out here that Jean had personal flaws and owed much of her success as an actress to Frank Capra, things about which I have first-hand knowledge, I was for the first time on this group subjected to personal attack while Capra also was assailed by some posters. I was not questioning Miss Arthurs talents but merely saying she was not the same heroic person off-screen as on. The present posters, however, have gone well beyond that in their comments on Fred and Ginger. Hence, my invitation for others who might disagree to say so.
