I have not weighed in on the Charlie Hebdo massacre for the simple reason that anything I say here on Facebook is simply not enough to honor the gravity of the situation. But now that Ive gotten myself into a heated discussion about foie gras, I though it was time to address more grave matters. The attack on Charlie Hebdo was not an attack on a French satire magazine. It was attack on the fabric of Western civilization, freedom of thought, freedom of expression, and an attack on our sense of security. I cannot adequately express the horror I feel at the actions of terrorists and all violent perpetrators of acts who destroy the sense of safety and freedom that we all deserve. I cannot adequately express the sorrow I feel for the loved ones of those killed.This and ALL acts of terror and violence are completely reprehensible. We must not live in fear. We must live based on our own sense of integrity. Thank you to all the journalists, entertainers, film makers and so on who enrich our lives with their diversity of thought and expression.
