I have not yet verified the authenticity of this article, but I just want to put this as a general reminder to ladies (and gentlemen) to be careful and vigilant anyway. You really never know. This goes especially in meeting up for shoots with a photographer (or group of photographers) you have not even met yet. Always do your homework; observe and be mindful of the people who want to work with you, especially if you are only talking to them online. Please consider the following: - Does s/he convey an air of credibility in talking to you? This is the easiest indicator. If they cant give you a straight, precise answer to your questions, that doesnt speak well of how serious or prepared they are for shooting you. Jejespeak and unsatisfactory language are quick dealbreakers for me. - Is s/he clear with her creative direction and expectations? If there are grey areas, it always helps to ask and clarify. The more you press for details, the easier it is to tear them apart if they are planning something shady. - Is the location safe? If its an outdoor shoot, is it a fairly common area with access to public transportation? If its an indoor/intimate shoot, is it near any identifiable landmarks? Ask if you can bring a companion. Preferences may vary, but if a companion is discouraged, your potential photographer must be able to give you a straight and objective answer as to why you cant. - Have anyone of my friends worked with him/her before? If s/he has mutual friends, it would be a good idea to drop a quick note to said friend and ask. Nothing is lost in being sure of ones character. - What does my gut feel tell me about him/her? As said by many a character, if the shoe fits, it really shouldnt hurt. If you feel the slightest hint of unease or discomfort based on the arrangement that you have with him/her, you can always say no. - Tell at least one person where youre headed and who youre working with when youre shooting. As said above, you really never know. Only collaborate with people you can trust. If the trust is absent, then dont. kickerdaily/viral-post-commuting-woman-in-shaw-blvd-escapes-would-be-kidnappers-warns-the-public/
