I have noticed a trend. Those holding the cessationist position have been adamant in defending their position as biblical but unable to bolster their argument with scripture that is not taken out of context and read only to confirm their predetermined position. Yet that is exactly what they accuse the continualist of doing. When I have presented verse and context their response is youve taken it out of context when I clearly have not. The other response is to resort to insults, accusations, and claiming to be attacked. This, combined with their penchant for making dogmatic, close-ended statements (your movement is heresy, youre just attacking me) literally derail any attempt at meaningful dialogue. I now understand the wisdom of not engaging in this fruitless endeavor. I am wholly inadequate to pierce the armor that their dogmatic and religious spirit has created, (at least in this medium) regardless of how scriptural or reasoned my arguments may be. This is solely the purview of the Holy Spirit. But I have one last appeal. Please, examine your new heart (Eze. 36:26) and see if there is not a desire for more than you are experiencing in your current walk, and if so, consider if that more is found in the current, present works of the Spirit.
