I have noticed about myself that I am often actively trying to be a better parent. Whether that is reading an article, talking to fellow parents or reflecting on my own upbringing. In fact, one might say I over think things on occasion. But thankfully, I stop myself often enough to stop the thinking and feel the parenting. What do I mean by this? I mean looking inward, rather than outward and considering what does my child need the most? That most often boils down to spending time together. Time in your childs world, on their level, exploring their interests. True- it is one of those easier said than done statements. A year ago if someone had told me I would become a Jay Z fan I would have scoffed at them. But the simple act of pausing when my son said, mom check this song out, its really great, and giving him my attention and time has given us many bonding moments and fantastic conversations- all on his terms. Am a a huge fan of Jay Z? Not really but I am a huge fan of Colin and William. I am too often guilty of trying to bond on my terms, when I am in the mood, or in what I am interested in. Yes, well, that doesnt always work well. This Friday, the 30th, please come join us for some time together at our Family Pizza & Pajama Party. Get out of the house and play. As a family. I wanted to host this for the simple fact of giving you an excuse to come out, have fun and be together. I hope you will. Playtime will be open from 4:30-7:30, pizza served about 5:30.
