I have noticed an uptick in Chemtrail Conspiracy beliefs as of late. I have a theory as to why. With the rise of skepticism across the past 10 years, old school conspiracies such as Men in Black, UFOs, JFK assassination, etc. are losing their ability to garner attention. They are just so silly, it doesnt even make sense to pursue anymore. Chemtrails, however, is something everyone can connect with. They see planes every day, they see their movements in the sky. Also, very few people can afford to fly on a plane and thus it still seems myserious and otherworldly, something reserved for the elite and the powerful. Also, people have a poor grasp of chemistry and how easy it would be to identify chemicals that spout out the back of a plane. So its the perfect combination of ignorance and accessability makes this a pervasive conspiracy belief. What say you?
