I have now been asked several times where I stand on Israel / Gaza - TopicsExpress

I have now been asked several times where I stand on Israel / Gaza , I suspect being from Northern Ireland and having lived here for 50+ years is meant to give me some sort of insight. Well ... It doesnt .... it has left me with a dislike of flags - if you wrap yourself to tightly your arms become unable to reach out to shake hands. Likewise when you pull tradition from the sparkly inviting wrapper of religious rhetoric all you are left with the moldy taste unfulfilled dreams and the broken promises of a better place that never was and will never come. ... perhaps the only thing I have learned is that I value and will support people. The ordinary people, people like you and I that struggle, love and fill the day with the many random acts of kindness, compassion and downright humanity that makes tomorrow worth getting up for ... and in Israel and Gaza those are the people I support, not their leaders, not the rabbis, not the mullahs, not the nations ... just the ordinary people like me. I hope fervently there is a way out of this spiral of hate, violence and death they find themselves in and that leaders appear that can recognise and follow it to a better place. Just saying
