I have now realized that Tuesday was in fact National Dog Day. I wasnt fully aware it existed until now, but that doesnt draw away from my feeling that dogs do deserve this day. They save lives in extreme and everyday situations all the time. A dog to many people around this planet is not only a part of the family, but an extension of themselves. Im truly blessed to have experienced that bond for at least the short time I did. Heres a shout out to my baby, my Ruby. There will never be another shepherd to walk this earth as beautiful and majestic as she. I loved her dearly, as she did me. I want to thank her for her devotion to my family. For she is the sole reason my dad still walks this earth today. Bravely running towards the flames to awake and alert my mom and dad, then attempting to flee to safety. I thank every single dog on duty in this country, serving and protecting, whether its on the K-9 Police Force or simply in someones home lounging next to them and ensuring their safety. Canines are a truly incredible companion for humans to be able to have around. I love you and miss you every single day Ruby Luna DeVee
