I have often seen many people at school from India watching cricket matches. No one really thinks of cricket as an American sport but it was actually played in the United State almost a hundred years before baseball. The first organized cricket game in the United States on record was in 1753 whereas the first organized baseball game wasnt until 1845. Before 1845 the game didnt have set rules and was loose so the difference between the two games were not always well defined. The Civil Wars lead to baseball increasing in popularity and then baseball becoming professionalized pretty much ended cricket in the United States. Although I wonder with Major League Baseballs opening day at Sydneys Cricket stadium if there would ever be a place where they are both equally popular. It just seems like wherever one is poplar the other isnt.
