I have often thought about marriage, and at times I wanted to be - TopicsExpress

I have often thought about marriage, and at times I wanted to be married more than other times. However, I had to learn over the years in my singleness that God takes Marriage very seriously. Its not an emotional thing with Him. You can not take vows before Him then treat your spouse however you want bc your having a bad day. God has had to teach me that Marriage has a purpose. That when people get married he wants to use that marriage to be a light that others can gleam from. In order to help others in their marriage or to show single people what God designed marriage to look like, He told me, you will know that you are ready to be married based on how you treat others. In the beginning that was a hard pill to swallow, bc I just wanted to be married. However, I had not yet learned to treat people how God does, with Unconditional love. instead i treated people based on my mood for the moment. so clearly I was not ready. When peoples marriages do not work out, it saddens God and He does not want to see any of us go through that. Why? Due to the fact that Marriage was created to symbolize Gods love for us. This is just a snippet of what I have learned... Marriage is a ministry. (Kim Brooks) You pour into the other person the love and encouragement you receive from God. When hes down, you lift him up. He wants to trust you with his heart, his dreams and desires, and know that you wont run and tell his secrets (Proverbs 31:11). Marriage for men means, R-E-S-P-E-C-T. Are you ready to respect him by your words and acts of submission, even when you feel youre right? (Ephesians 5:22) Are you ready to trust him with the direction of your life, and if you dont agree you take it to God in prayer instead of debating with him? In other words, are you really ready for marriage -if thats what you really want? If not, then take this time to prepare your heart and mind for the journey ahead. However, let each man of you [without exception] love his wife as [being in a sense] his very own self; and let the wife see that she respects and reverences her husband [that she notices him, regards him, honors him, prefers him, venerates, and esteems him; and [that she defers to him, praises him, and loves and admires him exceedingly]. Ephesians 5:33 Amplified Bible The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil. Proverbs 31:11 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. Ephesians 5:22 Submit does not mean you are a slave to your husband. It means that you put your total trust and faith in him just like you would God. That you are in agreement, for him to lead and be the head of his household as God intended. God created Man first for a specific reason. There were and still are things that God put a man in charge of and expected him to do. So dont get manipulated by the word submit.
