I have often thought that joy and pain were hints of life or death. My heart has often flipped over and over, more than what is necessary, for the science of understanding the complexities of feeling both simultaneously, most often in disbelief. Both pain and joy cant logically lead the dance of the same circumstance. I need only to dig deeper, to pull back, to aim for a better perspective to see if one is merely a symptom of the others leading hand. I look out the kitchen window, only to find the contrasting shadows of this bright day and its fiery explosion of fall colors. I am peacefully invited to compare the contrast of these two seemingly two separate emotions, pain and joy. Perhaps life is filled with exquisite contrast, where not only can pain and joy coexist at times, but when perfectly placed, the beauty is incomparable. And, the sign of death is not darkness, but really the lack of anything reminding me of my breath, or at least the need to catch it.
