I have one question for all of you in Danville, Va : wonder why Danville Regional Hospital fights so hard to keep any other hospital in the area from coming in and setting up practice. We were in the ER yesterday from 12 noon til 7pm last night for a intermittent nose bleed that had been occurring for 2 days . The waiting room was almost empty when we arrived and 5 emergencies came in then suddenly an influx of people filled the room and there we sat. They call you back to draw blood and send you back to the waiting room, call you back for breathing treatments send you back to waiting room call you back for x-rays and send you back to the waiting room. They bring blankets to sick people who are cold in the waiting room and there you sit with a nose bleed but surrounded with every kind of germ possible. I guess this spreads the wealth for the hospital and ensures a returning clientel. I assumed that since the blood was drawn, the insurance was taken care of, that once in the room the Dr would have already reviewed the test results and he would come in quickly do his exam and we would be off so I tried to console myself with the idea that we would do our waiting in the waiting room however once in a room we had to wait for 2 more hrs and was told that the Dr had reviewed all of the tests but now he was leaving so another Dr. would be coming in to see us. How efficient I thought! They clearly cannot take care of the people in this town and the surrounding area but since they are the only hospital what choice do we have and it seems that they are doing all they can to make sure it stays that way. The adds on TV talk about an improved Danville Regional Hospital but evidently they have not spent a day in the ER waiting. There were some really sick people in there last night that were having to wait like this. Some looked like they were about to faint and one elderly woman was in so much pain she was crying. It was really horrible and I, for one, am ready for another hospital to come to this area.
